Optical Modulators & Choppers
Our free-space
optical modulators and drivers and mechanical choppers are all versatile,
reliable, and easy to use.
Phase and Amplitude Modulators
These electro-optic modulators have many features and come in a variety
of configuratins, so there's sure to be one that fits your specific needs.
All our modulators operate with low drive voltages because they use lithium-niobate
(LiNbO3) or magnesium-oxide-doped lithium-niobate (MgO:LiNbO3) crystals,
which have large electro-optic coefficients. In addition, the small loss
tangents of LiNbO3 at RF frequencies permit operation of these devices over
a broad range of frequencie -- from DC to 9.2 GHz. LiNbO3 is also non-hygroscopic
and has high maximum optical-power limits and low optical-insertion loss.
Modulator Drivers
We have introduced two new user-friendly drivers for our resonant and broadband
phase and amplitude modulators. The Model 3211 High-Voltage Amplifier is
perfect for driving our broadband modulators and the Model 3363 Electro-Optic
Modulator Driver and Source is ideal for driving our resonant modulators.
Optical Choppers
Our popular high-performance optical choppers use an internal frequency
synthesizer to provide you with rock-solid stability and flexibility. Each
